💰 How To Make a Coin Cardboard Home Bank – by ABBY 🏠
Hi! I’m Abby 👧 and today I want to show you how I made my very own Coin Bank using just cardboard, glue, and a little creativity! It's fun, easy, and perfect if you want to save your coins at home in a cute way.
Let’s get started!
What You’ll Need:
An empty cardboard box (like a cereal box or shoebox)
Scissors ✂️ (ask an adult for help!)
Glue or tape
A ruler
A pen or pencil
Color paper, markers, or stickers (to decorate)
Optional: A coin slot stencil or small blade (with adult help)
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Choose Your Box
Pick a small cardboard box that’s not too big. I used an old cereal box!
2. Cut a Slot for Coins
Mark a rectangle at the top (about 4cm long and 0.5cm wide). Then, carefully cut it out with scissors or ask an adult to help use a small knife.
This is where your coins will drop in!
3. Seal the Box (Almost!)
Seal the box using glue or tape—but don’t seal the bottom completely. Leave a flap or make a small opening you can open later when you need to take your money out.
4. Decorate Like a Pro! 🎨
Here comes the fun part!
Wrap your box in colored paper.
Add drawings—hearts, stars, your name, even a “DO NOT OPEN!” label.
Use stickers, glitter, or anything you love.
I called mine “Abby’s Savings Bank 💸” and added smiley face stickers!
5. Test It!
Drop a few coins in and shake it—if they stay inside and don’t fall out the bottom, you did it right!
🧠 Why I Love My Coin Bank
It helps me save coins instead of losing them around the house.
I can watch it fill up little by little—which feels exciting!
It makes me feel responsible and proud of saving money.
And... I MADE IT MYSELF! 😄
Final Tip from Abby:
Whenever someone gives you a coin—don’t spend it yet!
Drop it in your bank and wait until it’s full. Then you can open it and use your savings for something special or even give to someone in need.
Saving is awesome. And when your bank is homemade? Even better.
Happy saving!
– Abby 💕
