Knowing God Personally - Word Power by Patriciah Babu
Why Knowing God Personally Is Important
More than religion. More than rules. It’s about relationships.
For a long time, many people go through life knowing about God—hearing about Him in church, reading verses, maybe even quoting Scripture. But that’s not the same as knowing God personally. And once you truly know Him—not just as a name, but as a friend, a Father, a guide—everything changes.
Here’s why that personal connection matters so much:
1. Because Religion Alone Can’t Hold You
Church attendance, memorized prayers, and even good behavior can only take you so far. When life hits hard—when you’re grieving, confused, or overwhelmed—it’s not religion that comforts you.
It’s relationship.
It’s the difference between saying, “I’ve heard God is a healer” vs. “I’ve experienced Him healing me.”
That personal knowing gives you a foundation that won’t crack when storms come.
2. Because God Isn’t Distant—He’s Present
Knowing God personally means you talk to Him. You hear from Him. You feel His peace in your ordinary days.
He’s not just “up there in the clouds.” He’s in your kitchen while you cook. On your mind while you drive. Whispering wisdom when you feel lost. Laughing with you in your wins. Holding you when words fail.
That’s not theory. That’s reality—when you really know Him.
3. Because It Changes Who You Are
When you know God personally, you don’t just “follow rules.”
You start to reflect Him.
-
You forgive differently because you’ve been forgiven.
-
You love differently because you’ve felt His love.
-
You carry peace that doesn’t make sense to others—because He put it there.
It’s not just behavior change. It’s a heart shift.
4. Because You’ll Need a Solid Anchor
Life is unpredictable. People disappoint. Plans fail. But knowing God personally gives you a constant. A compass. An anchor.
You stop living in fear of the unknown because you know the One who goes before you.
You stop tying your worth to people’s opinions because you know who calls you chosen.
5. Because It's What You Were Made For
We were never designed to just “exist” or “perform.” We were made for communion—with the One who made us. There’s a hole in the human heart that only God can fill. Everything else—success, money, relationships—can’t touch that space.
Knowing God personally brings that missing piece into place. It gives your life meaning beyond the moment.
Final Thought
Knowing God personally doesn’t mean you have all the answers.
It means you’re walking with the One who does.
It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being connected.
It’s not about following rules—it’s about trusting His heart.
And it’s not just for pastors, or church elders, or “spiritual” people.
It’s for you. Right now. As you are.
